I'm planning out our wine run route and it currently includes Cayuse Pass, SR-123. However, the DOT website shows this as being closed. Should we re-route the run, or is it usually open by Memorial Day weekend?

It's not looking good

Pass status as of May 2, 2011

"Cayuse Pass remains closed. The clearing crew estimates it could be late May before it reopens. Late spring snowstorms continue to pummel the pass, slowing clearing efforts. Cayuse Pass has been closed since noon on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010."

I'm thinking as long as it continues to rain down here in the lowlands, that's not helping the snow removal efforts.

Shouldn't have to take Cayuse. Head south from Graham, to Morton, and take SR 12 over White Pass. Not QUITE as nice as Cayuse, but still good, and open. :)

Still dumping up top and looks to remain that way. Big snow pack this year so it is most likely be a late opening. I know the guy that plows that pass out of YakaVegas so I will make a call to get an update.

Back in 2008 when I led a run to Mt. Rainier Cayuse pass opened the second weekend in June. I suggest planning on an alternate route and if Cayuse opens prior, it's a bonus.

I dumped that part of the route and we'll go down through Morton instead. Thanks all for the feedback.

They have ben trying to open the N Cascades Highway for two weeks now.
They get it cleared and it snows and slides over the whole section. Still very unstable snow pack with lots of fresh contining to pile up.
