Tires

I must admit to being a MOD moron. I know I want to MOD my car but am unsure where to start other than the tires. I really want to swap out my tires for non run flats. My mini is not a daily driver but the Harley my wife talked me out of. So if the weather and roads are bad I have a 4x4 pickup to drive. I'm looking for a performance tire that wont get me into trouble on wet rainy days. For snow and or ice the car will be safely at home. Advice will be appreciated.

I used the BF Goodrich KDW-2 on my 2005 MCS, as well as the Bridgestone Potenza RE-760 Sport. Both were great tires. What year do you have?

Those BS Sport RE-760 are a great summer tires! Not so good in the cold and wet so a second set is needed.

I run the BS RE-960 for an all season and maybe I should have gotten the Continental DWS for an all season, a more quiet ride and better in the wet. I use Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D when it turns cold and boy are they great tires! 215x45x17 is all they made 2 years ago but they are something I would put on the car again.

I've been thinking the Continental DWS as well.

But right now I'm pulling out my hair trying to figure out the install of my P3Cars digital gauges, The video makes it look like most any moron could pull it off, except me of course.

Possibly the BS RE-970, which quickly replaced the 960's, would be OK. The 960's have gotten harder and noisier with age. The Dunlops have not, so maybe BS changed their tire rubber compounds for the 970.

Good luck with the digital gauges. One of the BIG FAILINGS, imho, is the lack of proper instrumentation.

If you have any interest in running a summer vs. winter set up, I have a second set of wheels with the RE-760's still mounted that I'd be willing to sell. My '05 was traded in for the Countryman, and my wife prefers to use run flats for the peace of mind. So these are simply taking up space. The wheels are the ASA AR-1, painted black with machined silver lip. The RE-760's still have some life in them, too.

The AR-1's are 17". The tires are 225x45R17. Not sure I can make the meeting, as I'm leaving for New Orleans the next day.
